Google going away from the Nexus line and went with the more mainstream premium range. We are speaking of the Pixel and Pixel XL, high-end devices competing with the iPhone 7 and Samsung 7 counterparts.
The first Pixel is a good phone but still not on par with its rivals. Google always learns from its mistakes and we can rest assured Pixel 2 will be way better.
Google’s Pixel 2 will be the flagship handset we can assume it will have the top-end hardware. Since every other manufacturer will probably have Snapdragon 835 CPU in their devices, Pixel 2 may have it as well. Some rumors say that Intel and in-house google processors are in testing with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and at least 128 GB internal memory. In addition, water and dust resistance could be included. Display may get an improvement to a QHD. We would hope for USB Type-C and a fingerprint scanner on the back. Unless they opt for the under the screen fingerprint scanner.
People had some issues when it came to Pixel’s design. The top part of the phone is glass and provided a different look. Either way, all devices, look the same with that big front screen. The current trend is to reduce the bezel size and make room for bigger screens using the same body size.
Pixel 2 is coming in two sizes, of 5 or 5.5 inches. This range is probably the perfect size for a smartphone. Although the resolution and display type may change and adopt an OLED 2560×1440, time will tell. We can hope for an edge to edge display too. With the amount of pixel increase we can assume
Details about the new Pixel are limited, we can just speculate. There is talk about the dismissal of the headphone jack in opposition to what the first Pixel was advertised as. Something that we are sure of is that it will have the latest version of Android.
Camera is unclear if will get an improvement since the current Pixel’s 12.3 Megapixel sensor is really good.
Better battery life is what everybody wants in any phone especially in a capable one like Pixel 2.
For sound, everybody uses headphones for a nice quality experience, we just want to see some stereo speakers.
A microSD card slot will go a long way too.
The cost will be high, if they include VR, better assistant, insane specifications and water resistant capabilities. We would expect prices around £750 for the Pixel 2 and £850 for the Pixel 2 XL.
Rick Osterloh has confirmed that a Pixel 2 will launch in 2017. Probably a may have an unveil of the device among the new Android O. On 5 October 2016 we got the previous variants and they went in stores on 20th October. We may see a similar pattern.
Pixel 2 is definitely a smartphone to look after. As soon as we get updates, we shall comment on them and hope to paint a clearer picture of how the handset will be like.
